During the Blank Century, a man named Joy Boy came across an island located at the end of the Grand Line where he left behind a treasure of unimaginable value. Gol D Roger along with his crew was the only one able to travel all through the grand line and reach the island and hence came to be known as King Of The Pirates. On seeking the Joy Boy's Tresure the Roger Pirates began to laugh which Roger described as "Tale Full Of Laughs" He later named the Island "Laugh Tale".
It was before his execution Roger announced the existence of this unimaginable treasure which he named One Piece and announced this treasure could be claimed by anyone who finds it leading to the ages of Great Pirate Era where pirates of different crew joined the race of searching the One Piece.
Monkey D Luffy goals for finding the One Piece to achieve the title of King Of The Pirates starts his journey alone creating his own pirate crew Straw Hat Pirates and joining the adventures of the Grand Line. It was during Sabaody Archipelago when they were closest to know about One Piece when Usopp asked Silver Rayleigh (Former Member Of Roger Pirates) about the One Piece but Luffy stopped him knowing that learning about it now will ruin the purpose of their adventures
